That's a Wrap: Deep Water From Dry Places

Exodus 25:1-9

  1. Dry Places - If honest we must confess to God that there are places and times that we find the Bible difficult to read, comprehend, or apply. God knows our heart, so be honest with Him

  2. Deep Water - No matter how dry a section of scripture may seem, God Inspired it and preserved it for a reason. He has an important message for us in it.

  3. God Honors - He will honor our faithful effort to read and apply, He will bless and speak despite our struggles. There is honor in honest effort.

  4. God Cares - In this passage and the chapters to follow, we see the instructions for the building of the tabernacle and the furnishings for it, along with how worship and offerings were to be conducted. While we are no under the Old Testament Law, there are principles to be learned regarding God's care for how worship is to be carried out even today.

  5. God is a God of Organization - Despite recent trends, this passage teaches us that our worship should be intentional and thought out, for God is a God of organization. The way we worship should not be chaotic and haphazard. We should put thought into how we go to worship.

  6. Worship Involves Personal Sacrifice - These chapters demonstrate the use of valuable time, materials, and skill in building the tabernacle and carrying out worship. Today people tend to only put into worship what they think they can afford, and save the best for themselves. Perhaps our worship would be more powerful if we made a true sacrifice in our worship that is worthy of the God we worship.

  7. A Better Way - The New Testament age ushered in a better way to Christ and or worship of God. Jesus was the fulfillment of the law, and we are no longer under the law of Moses. That does not mean we throw out the law, most of God's law was repeated in the New Testament period and is to be carried forward, but we no longer make animal sacrifices for sin, because Jesus was the last and perfect sacrifice. We no longer have to travel to a tabernacle, temple, or church for worship, even though we are taught to continue the practice of meeting together for worship, as we can worship God and should worship God no matter where we are.
